Ouch! Don’t Make the Same Mistake I Did! Why You Need a Coach, Part 3
“Coaching isn’t therapy. It’s product development, with you as the product.”
– Fast Company
No question, it took forever early in my career to understand that "Everyone needs a coach." I paid the price for my stubbornness!
Think about it: Athletes have coaches. Musicians have coaches. Even middle school students in the regional MATHCOUNTS competition, sponsored by the society of professional engineers, have coaches.
The common thread? All individuals achieve a higher level of consistent success with a coach. Yet, most individuals and business leaders (including myself) are either embarrassed or ashamed to ask for help … let alone a coach!
Why? Some consider it a sign of failure, and might even think something is wrong with us. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Business is a competitive game. We need a business coach to win consistently at a high level. There’s something very right about seeking a coach - it enables you to leap over the competition!
A coach helps you achieve the success you define for yourself. A coach is a shepherd, a cheerleader, an ally who lends a hand to get you there.
As “The CEO Shepherd,” I help you get to the next level you have identified. It is about you!
As a mentor and coach, do I have a coach? Absolutely I do; in fact, I have several.
A great coach is a trusted advisor who has your back, can look at a situation with different eyes, gives you a different perspective and, when necessary, pulls you back from the ledge.
If you've realized that you could use a guide, a mentor, or a coach, feel free to contact me. Let's start the conversation. It's OK to ask for help!
