What the Heck is Organizational Culture … and Why it Matters, Part 3

The “CEO Shepherd’s” three foundational pillars to building a sustainable organizational culture through leadership, Part 3.

The wall is there, whether we can see it or not! The question is, what to do about it?

Breaking Down the Wall

You build organizational culture by breaking down walls. In an open-book culture, you need to broaden the concept of leadership, and delegate it. In sports, the term is “next man (or women) up.” When you have a vibrant business culture, it is no different.

With the Great Resignation under way, work awaits developing the next generation of leaders at all levels of the organization, to improve their business knowledge and skills. You want a culture where the workforce is nimble on their feet, and ready to take advantage of opportunities when they come along.

You don’t manage people. You control the system! Through open and honest communication, you teach the game of business. Encourage them. Give them ownership of, and responsibility for, executing decisions. Be a cheerleader!
